A frigate skirmish between Minmatar and Amarr forces escalated to battleships in Kamela during the first week of YC124. The Bleak Lands has become known for it’s lawlessness, and the recent violence is no deviation from the trend.
Kamela has 9 planets, 6 adjacent stars, and entrances to high security and low security space. It’s home to the 24th Imperial Crusade Logistic Support facility at Kamela V. Dockworkers have a Tartara in system, and there’s a Fortizar owned by a corporation called “Yassavi Family.”
It’s unknown whether the Minmatar have docking rights in these independent facilities. If not, liberating the system would offer a strategic advantage to the Minmatar, while also depriving the Amarr of a comfortable stronghold.
The Amarr’s defense fleet of Punisher-class frigates was put down by the Minmatar, led by FortyWinks. After the following lull in action to refit, the Amarr returned in a second wave with Catalyst-class destroyers, in an attempt to counter the victorious Minmatar frigate fleet. A Talwar fleet was then deployed to counter the catalysts, making short work of the Amarr reinforcements.
This escalation continued for hours, until both sides eventually mustered more significant forces. AdmiralHAL’s Hyperion-class battleship fell in the scrum, as did M’jakar’s Tempest-class. The Minmatar lost no battleships in their assault.
A total of 20 ships were deployed by the Minmatar, of which 7 were lost (412 million isk), and 27 ships were deployed by the Amarr, of which 25 were lost (2.7billion isk). The fighting continues in the effort to liberate Kamela, and casualties remain high on both sides.
It was a long day but we had good camaraderie and Forty Winks executed tactics very well. The Minmamtar Republic is always looking for new pilots to join us on the front line. Thanks for the share Bill, see you in the plexes.
