Two Frigates Outsmart A Caracal
At times, the enemy, even one as talented in the art of killing as Smegerton Rinah, can be lured to participate in their own defeat. Rinahs caracal was set to take down an unidentified allied frigate before the patrolling rifter showed up. From about 60km, it looked to the intercepting Minmil captain as if the first frigate was attempting to escape as the rifter approached.
His thrusters pushed to their limit on a head on approach, the interloper planned to draw the enemys fire to allow the ally to escape. As soon as he could, he deactivated the caracal’s warp drive using a warp scrambler. Although the larger cruiser wasn’t attempting to escape using warp, it was possibly using a microwarpdrive to keep up with the first frigate. Rinah had the right strategy, but the wrong equipment, in this case.
Screaming in at better than 3k/s had the desired effect. Entangled in EWAR, Rinah switched targets to the hero rifter. As soon as it was too late for the Minmatar frigate to abandon the dive in to close range, it immediately became painfully evident that the caracal was equipped with rapid light missile launchers and attack drones; a nightmare combination for the rifter. Range dipped within 5 km before the rifter began the laborious task of pulling range.
