Former MLF Commando Duty Made Training Camp A Breeze, E-Boxer Claims

Despite a grueling camp, Hannibal Decca took time for a quick interview

Hannibal Decca, a rising star of esports boxing, is gearing up for his upcoming broadcast event debut with a rigorous, otherworldly training camp. The daily regimen is a combination of exhausting physical and psychological preparation.

Hannibal’s training heavily focuses on mental toughness, which is crucial in a high-pressure event like a professional fight. His dedication to his craft is evident in his training and preparation.

“Every morning, the man memorizes the boards and plays chess mentally with 3 different Grand Champions while he’s running his 15 miles,” trainer Cole Bleak says between puffs on what appears to be a cigar. The smoke smells pungent and sweet and leaves a warm fuzziness throughout the tent. “He just calls out ‘knight B-6’ or whatever while we’re out on the dunes. Somebody moves the pieces for him back at the base. He understands that boxing is not just about throwing punches. It’s about outsmarting the other guy.”

Although some fighters like to take it easy in training camp, Decca trains like a man positively possessed by some awful, vengeful spirit.

Among the towering dunes speckled across the uncharted deserts of the farthest orbiting moon of Arnher V there stands a small group of half a dozen canvas tents, their cloth whipping in the wind under the sand-laden onslaught of dry wind. Every day, the fighters sprint to the top of the largest of the nearby dunes. Gravity here is punishing and uneven, thanks to the partially rocky, partially iron double core.

The starlight on Arnher V is too dangerous to withstand directly for more than a few seconds

The environment is treacherous and harsh. There are no real amenities, and the only meat seems to come from monthly expeditions to hunt the gigantic crawling lizards that inhabit the dust zones of the planet. Sunlight is an almost constant, unyielding blast outside of the shadow-riddled sandscape. To be outside on foot is to constantly sprint from cover to cover from the punishing starlight.

But as heavy as my legs felt when I arrived at the personnel  landing pad some 2500 km away from the makeshift training camp, I couldn’t imagine walking through the sand; let alone sprinting.

Even in the face of a lack of seemingly any comforts on the desolate planet, Hannibal’s training includes intense cardio workouts, strength training, and sparring sessions with some of the best fighters in the galaxy.

It’s not uncommon for Decca’s handlers to spend literally millions of ISK transporting superstars under armed guard to and from the war-torn region from the far reaches of the galaxy.

When Is Hannibal Decca’s Next Fight?

At the direction of his enigmatic trainer, Hannibal spends hours studying his opponents’ fighting styles and analyzing their weaknesses. His tactical ingenuity and flexibility, much like the ancient general Hannibal Barca, make him a formidable opponent in the ring.

As the spectacle of e-sports boxing in 2023 solidifies, fans are eager to see how his skills look against another trained prospect. With his rigorous preparation and tactical brilliance, Decca seems almost sure to put on a great show and cement his position as one of the most entertaining esports boxers in the world.

Hannibal Decca’s next fight opponent has yet to be announced, so his coaches are keeping him prepared for anything, they say.

“There’s a few guys we got our eyes on, but it’s gotta be right,” coach Bleak reiterated. “We don’t duck nobody in the division, we’ll take any fight at 135. Most of these guys aren’t on his level, but there’s this one guy, came down on one of the transports. He’s good too.” Bleak claims Decca’s unorthodox training and his unusual physical capabilities make him possibly the best lightweight since Sam Langford. “We put him in there with a heavyweight. Decca knocked him out cold with a right hand.”
